Shipping During the COVID-19 Pandemic

In light of recent events, we at HDS would like to address some of the challenges that we all are facing with COVID-19/Coronavirus outbreak. The obvious is the health concerns.

There are other concerns as well in relation to business practice.

With the widespread closures at schools, restaurants, fitness centers, theaters, businesses, etc., we are anticipating the possibility of an increase in re-deliveries.

We ask your assistance during this challenging time to make sure before shipping that the consignee will be open and/or there will be someone there to receive the freight.

This will help to avoid re-deliveries and associated fees.

Example - Some warehouses are not allowing the drivers to go into the warehouse to load the freight and it may take longer for the warehouse staff to load the trucks. Detention charges will apply in this scenario. Others are requesting phone calls prior to delivery or are just not open, appointment fees or redelivery fees will apply.

Please ask your customers if they are accepting freight or if they have any special needs for deliveries. If there are special delivery instructions please note them clearly on the bill of lading.

Again, this will help to avoid re-deliveries and associated fees.

We greatly appreciate your continued partnership with HDS. Together we will get through this difficult time.

If you have any questions or need additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

HDS wishes you and yours all the best!
